Additional WowWee Robosapien V2 Full Function Humanoid Robot with Remote Control Information

The advanced new Robosapien V2 - now standing almost 2 feet tall - has grown to nearly twice the size of his popular but primitive predecessor. His blue LED eyes light up, blink and track movements with infrared sensors, and they even recognize colors. His vision, touch sensors and stereoscopic hearing help Robosapien V2 interact with his environment with remarkable autonomy.

Unlike the prior generation, Version Two talks in English, interacting with humans and fellow "Signature Series" robots (Robopet and Roboraptor, sold separately) in surprisingly smart ways. The bigger, better body of Robosapien V2 strides with impressive biomechanical fluidity -- he can sit or lie down and get up again all by himself. Simply aim the wireless IR wireless controller at his brain and you're in command of scores of functions. Requires 6 "D" batteries and 7 "AAA" batteries, not included.

What Customers Say About WowWee Robosapien V2 Full Function Humanoid Robot with Remote Control:

for some videos showing you the extent of the Fire Hazard with this toy. There are several independent reviews on the Internet about the existing problem with the crumbling insulation on the wires and you can also check [.]. There are a total of 13 wires leaving the foot all without the wire insulation. I collect vintage robots including Heathkit Jr., Hero-1, Omnibot 2000, Hearoid, & Androbot Topo robots. There are two balck wires and 2 red wires connectng to the Battery terminals tabs, a red and brown wire connecting to the foot motor, there is a board # 6028-17a with 7 wires with problems. I contacted WooWee but never got a response about my problem, another reason not to get this robot.

Scares me to know that companies don't check their products better before they put them for sale. Of the new robots I collect 4 WooWee's and 2 Robosapien V2, one partially fixed now and the other in progress. Now with the real review.Robosapien V2 is a FIRE HAZARD because the insulation on the wire harnesses that start at the battery compartments are crumbling, the problem is present on both legs. Each time people puts new batteries 6Ds and 4AAs the batteries short out, creating a lot of heat, enough heat to melt the plastic that surrounds the harnesses. I also work in the aerospace industry and have a bachelors in computers and electronics. I bought a signature series robot last year, everything was fine until I went to turn it on one day and it would not come on.

The reason I'm giving you the extra info is so that you can find my review crediable. If you are not a technical person, DON'T get this robot, instead get the Robosapien version 1.

Fortunately Computers and Robots just happen to be one of my areas of specialty. It is a little too advanced for young children who cannot manipulate the remote controller or the robots commands very well. Other than the walking issue, I would highly recommended this robot for ages 10 to adult. Robosapien V2 is like having an electronic human being in your house. Check out the videos I recorded of my Robosapien V2 on youtube:[.].My personal opinion is that this is really an adult toy, for robot collectors like me.

RSV2 has over 100 pre programmed function and you can program him for custom functions, using program mode. It is a good idea to keep him off of tabletops. Because I'm a robot collector, I'm looking for robots on the internet all the time. I love my Robosapien and he's not going anywhere, anytime soon. I search thousands of online stores. He can detect stereo sound, has touch sensors to avoid obstacles, and sense human presence, and even a full color digital video camera mounted in his head, to detect skin tones and color recognition. He was in need of some serious repair work when I got him.

Upon finishing repairs, I pushed the power button and that's when the fun just got started.I had so much fun with this little guys that we kept each other entertain for hours. Only I wish that Wowwee had done a better job making it so he can walk easier. This robot really can't be beat. So far I really can't find any other robot that can measure up to the Robosapien V2. I found this Robosapien V2 used (RSV2). He has four of the five human senses built in. He cannot detect table ledges like the Wowwee Roboquad can.

I contacted WowWee, but all they wanted to know is if I had a receipt: My RoboSapien was a gift. I disassembled the robot to locate the short and to my surprise most of the insulation on the internal wirng had fallen off. Six D batteries working into a short is more than capable of starting the plastic robot on fire. When I installed new batteries the robot still did not work. WowWee made no effort to replace my defective robot or to explain why the wiring was of such poor quality. The insulation is of such bad quality that touching it causes the coating to fall off.

If you have a receipt, mine was a gift, you may be able to get a refund or a replacement from WowWee. My RoboSapien quit working and I assumed the batteries were bad. When I removed the new batteries they were very hot, indicating that they were operating into a short. This robot is a serious fire hazard and should be removed from your home.

They would not replace it since I had lost the purchase receipt. I have come across hundreds of posts saying the product fails soon after purchase. Buyers beware and do some googling on this product before buying. The company has major quality control issues including bad wiring insulation which can cause fires. Mine did.

I had to shut it off. Pick up the hand-held controller and feel the cheapness. The robot's plastic is OK but the controller is just a piece of junk. I'm a software developer with a Master's degree in engineering so it's not like I can't figure out a technical problem. then look at the label: Made in China.

I suspect that WowWee is having so many returns on the V2 that they are repairing them and repackage them as new. Unlike a video game console control that has some heft and fairly thick plastic, the controller looks cheap and feels cheap. I only pray that they had a software Quality Assurance team that actually looked at this thing before they released it. Too bad they didn't spend a few more bucks on the controller. If WowWee built such a cheapo controller that you are going to be holding in your hands and looking at the whole time then imagine the shortcuts they took on quality on the things you can't see. We have arrived at an era in which a $[.]. It had some scuffs and scratches and it was a bit dirty. It folded itself up and kept the motors running even after it was completely folded over backwards.

I tried everything. I bought mine from Target.com via Amazon.com so I'm covered as far as customer service and rapid turnaround on a replacement but WowWee is not a company I will ever trust again. The ONLY reason that I'm getting a replacement instead of a full refund is because when it works it is one of the coolest toys I've seen and my kid would have a heart attack if we gave up on it.The technology is great and if you wonder how they could possibly sell these things for under $[.]. Sad. toy is a throwaway. This toy is very cool but ours stopped working soon after we started using it. This thing is broken. When mine arrived I could tell that it had been used even though it was newly packaged. It IS cheap.
